Maui's Cetacean Visitors were Singing in the Rain

This year's Whale Watch with the Realtors Association of Maui was sold out well before we all said “Bon voyage!”

But a storm system blew in on Friday and decided to spend the weekend in Maui, making the whale watch a bit more rainy than usual. Nevertheless, Maui's Realtors are an intrepid bunch, and the turn out for a slightly-damper-than-advertised Whale Watch Cruise was impressive.

Many of our friends in the Maui real estate community brought friends and family on the cruise. Visitors to the island were treated to the awe-inspiring sight of Humpback Whales cruising through Maui's sheltered coastal waters, the improbably adorable antics of baby whales, and the eerie serenade of male Humpbacks echoing through the deep brought above the water by a hydrophone.

We were happy to catch up with our friends over light refreshments, especially Bruce Falkner, Terry and Margit Tolman. Rain or shine, it's always great to spend time in the company of great people on the best island in the world, Maui no kai oi!
