Google Labs Launch Image Swirl
The engineers at Google are hard at work inventing and creating new ways to utilize our ever-evolving technology, their latest experiment, Image Swirls. You can explore images just like the Google Image Search, but the Image Swirl takes the keyword you enter into their query and displays twelve related thumbnails. Now get this, by clicking on one of those thumbnails, a new cluster or “swirl” will appear. Your original search and every other for that particular keyword, will be shuffled in ascending order along the right hand side of your screen. Therefore, you never need to use your 'back' button to view previous images.
Google Image Swirl uses algorithms; metadata; and facial recognition software to analyze and classify shapes, faces and even the time of day. It also determines whether an image is panoramic or if it is a close-up. The interface is a lot like Google's other experiment, the Wonder Wheel, which enables you to search related search queries. This amazing feature is still in its experimental stage so any suggestions to Google labs will help to make it more useful for future image searching.
