Microsoft Corp Rolls out a New Search Engine Bing Ba-da-Bing?
May 28, 2009
Microsoft Corp is gearing up to unveil its newest attempt to become a real contender in the search engine arena. With Google holding about an 80% share of all online searches and Microsoft only 6%, they have a lot of ground to cover.
Now what amazing thing have they come up with, you might ask. Well, they named it Bing. Whether you love it or hate it, you can't deny it's easy to say it.
According to Microsoft, Bing, "will begin to roll out over the coming days and will be fully deployed worldwide on Wednesday, June 3."
The company's last search effort, known as Live Search, just didn't catch on, but this failure has been blamed partially on lack of promotion. To prevent a repeat performance, Microsoft has reportedly decided to throw up to $100 million into the effort of making Bing a household name.
While advertising may help, the self proclaimed "decision engine" needs to back it up with a really good product if they hope to close the search share gap with Google.
What touted features do we have to look forward to?
- Great search Results
- Organized search experience
- Simplified tasks & provide insight
